Abstract :
Materials with nanometric pores are ubiquitous : geomaterials, building materials, mineral phases of bone etc...
The behavior of these materials depends on the size of the pores present and is intimately associated with the fluids present in these pores. Fluid-microstructure couplings play an important role in the thermo-hydro-mechanical behavior of these materials with important repercussions at the macroscopic scale (i.e., industrial applications). Modeling and simulation at the nanoscale allow to understand the origin of the behavior of these materials at the scale where the relevant phenomena (e.g. adsorption, diffusion, ionic conductivity etc.) occur. This strategy opens doors for the optimization, functionalization and custom design of nanoporous materials.
