Reduction of manufacturing process models for aeronautical parts

Open position for an 18-Month Postdoctoral researcher : Reduction of manufacturing process models for aeronautical parts.

Job description : We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified postdoctoral researcher to join our research team for the ADAPTE project "Advanced DigitAlized Production TEchnology" - Flux 1. The successful candidate will work on the development of reduced parametric models of manufacturing processes for aeronautical parts. The researcher will be responsible for contributing to the development of parametric models
and integrating empirical data to enhance the modeling and simulation of manufacturing processes.

Required skills : The ideal candidate should possess the following skills :

  • Mastery of modeling and simulation of aeronautical parts manufacturing processes, such as casting, machining, welding, additive manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication, etc., with a deep understanding of thermomechanical phenomena, thermodynamics, and material kinetics.
  • Knowledge of simulation and optimization software for manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in finite element software such as Abaqus, Ansys, etc.
  • Experience in model reduction and the development of compact physical models and surrogate models for manufacturing simulation.
  • Skills in system simulation using tools such as Ansys Twin Builder, Amesim, SimScape, Modelica, etc.
  • Knowledge in developing data-based models for manufacturing processes, including statistical approaches and machine learning.
  • Skills in developing hybrid physical/data models for better representation of manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in programming in Python and Matlab.
  • Skills in multi-objective, multidisciplinary optimization, and MDO tools, such as ModelCenter, to refine and improve simulation models.
  • Knowledge of the properties of metals used in the aeronautical industry for more accurate modeling of interactions.

Additional desirable skills  :

  • Skills in visualization to present results clearly and concisely.
  • Project management skills to effectively manage time and resources.
  • Ability to communicate research results effectively through presentations, reports, and scientific articles.
  • Skills in data analysis to interpret simulation results and identify trends.
  • Initiative and creativity to propose new approaches and ideas.
  • Ability to collaborate with experts from different disciplines and work in an interdisciplinary environment.
