Abstract :

Several solutions have been proposed to rationalize the flow of goods, including pooling, where the transport flows entering the city are concentrated in an Urban Distribution Center (UDC) located near the city center. The CDU consists of receiving the vehicles of the many transporters who supply the city, to fill less polluting vehicles. The freight deposited is then pooled, sorted and grouped according to sectors and delivered by a single operator who can optimize vehicle rounds. The gain in vehicle-km is considerable.

Motivated by these facts, a variant of the vehicle routing problem combined with the loading problem is addressed in this work. This problem is known as the heterogeneous vehicle touring problem under three-dimensional loading constraints (3L-HFVRP). The study project concerns the implementation of a new distribution center, hence the choice of the routing variant "HFVRP" since it allows the design of a new fleet as well as its optimal routing for future depots. In addition, the combination of vehicle routing and three-dimensional loading is particularly important, both practically and theoretically. Indeed, managers in many real-world transports have to consider both routing and loading, especially when the dimensions of the goods are heterogeneous and the loading is not trivial.
