Abstract :

We outline the state of the art in digital twin (DT) technology and how this is explored and exploited, today, in the shipping and maritime transport context, as well as in the broader supply chain management environment. DT combines different technologies and their capabilities in one system, i.e. Machine Learning and IoT components, cloud compiting and visualization software. Henceforth, DT approached as an Advanced Simulation or even the Industrial Metaverse allows organizations and whole business networks and sectors to design, plan, monitor, and control their assets, processes and services, considering numerous variations of objectives and prioritized operations’ performance attributes.
