Résumé  :

This seminar presents a novel approach for the Modulation technique applied on Asymmetrical Cascade H-Bridge Multi Level-Inverter (CHB-MLI) to improve its performance for motor drive applications, this approach is based on applying two modulation techniques in one algorithm : Staircase modulation technique and Selective Harmonics Elimination method (SHE) :

  1. The first modulation technique aims to achieve an output voltage signal closer to sinus wave, thanks to one of three different configurations : 1:2:4, 1:2:6, 1:3:9 of the DC sources for AMLI-CHB, which gives three output voltages levels [15th, 19th, 27th] respectively using three H-bridge topology.
  2. The second modulation technique (SHE) algorithm determines the switching angles needed to eliminate a wide band of harmonics of the output voltage signal.

As a result, this algorithm will reduce the total harmonic distortion ratio with respect to the Norm IEEE-519. Furthermore, three study cases had been numerically implemented by SimScap / Matlab and validated under special conditions (varying modulation index and voltage disturbance on DC side).
