Seminar of Yvan MAGOS, TRIBOMAT, 25/05/2023

We are plased to announce the seminar of

Yvan MAGOS, master-internship student of the team TRIBOMAT, on the "Development of fiber reinforced polymer - shape-memory alloy composites for reinforced concrete structures.".

On 25/05/2023 at 13h15 via Teams.

Abstract:

This work aims to design and characterize a new composite material used as reinforcement in concrete structures. The material consists of epoxy reinforced with hybrid plies of carbon-kevlar fibers as well as thin shape memory alloy wires. This composite combines the rigidity of conventional composites with the exceptional elastic deformation capacity of shape memory alloys. The new composite retains high rigidity while exhibiting ductility and energy dissipation capacity. These properties are particularly sought after for reinforcing reinforced concrete structures in high seismic risk areas.

The material is made using a specific experimental protocol in the Quartz laboratory. The hybrid composite is characterized numerically using the Abaqus/CAE software and experimentally through static and dynamic testing.
